Bucher Emhart Glass is Hiring a Process Operator Near Windsor, CT

Bucher Emhart Glass is searching for a Process Operator to expand the team at our Research and Training Center in Windsor, CT. The successful candidate will monitor and operate a glass melting furnace, glass inspection machines and other general plant equipment as needed. The position requires the use of computers, various mechanical and electrical equipment/tools, and protective clothing and safety equipment.

All duties of this position are hands on and performed on-site; remote work is not possible.

Please note: The shifts for this position are 8 to 12 hours long and include at least one weekend day/night. Shifts could be days or nights but there is a shift premium for all 3rd shift hours worked. This position works some holidays but at the double time rate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Operates and monitors glass melting furnace, glass forming equipment and glass inspection equipment.
  • Monitors line flow and troubleshoots mechanical machine malfunctions.
  • Maintains and repairs machinery following standard operations procedures.
  • Checks mold equipment and identifies required tooling repairs to maintain conformance.
  • Documents and records information on equipment alerting other plant personnel of issues.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical and industrial practices with the ability to use hand tools.

BASIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Routinely assists in maintaining/cleaning of the plant in accordance with scheduled tasks and as needed.
  • Assists R&D Engineers with project testing.
  • Performs all assignments in full compliance with all company, state and/or federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations including operating all equipment with safety guards in place, wearing required protective safety equipment, encourage coworkers to work safely, report injuries, unsafe acts and conditions to the plant engineer and/or safety committee.
  • Ensures all employees and visitors are using required protective equipment and safe work practices.
  • Notifies team leader, production specialist and/or safety committee of any irregularities in materials, process, or equipment.
  • Participate in safety training sessions, contributing ideas and suggestions on how to improve safety procedures and conditions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment by adhering to the safety guidelines and procedures outlined by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Manufacturing experience is required.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical or industrial practices.
  • Experience using hand tools strongly preferred.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 75 pounds.
